Ornate Presentation Imperial
Hunting/Forestry Desk-Top Photograph Album. This
superb, one-of-a-kind, album was presented to Oberforstmeister
Srhede on 01 October 1897. The album measures 10
3/4W X 13 ¾"L X 2 ½" thick
and features padded black leather covers which show
virtually no wear/age and no rips, tears or scuffs.
The front cover features four 1 ¼" diameter
silver rosettes with raised floral motifs flanking
a central silver presentation plaque within an ornate
silver frame. The frame is comprised of oak leaves/branches,
crossed rifles, hunting game bag and hunting horn
surmounted by a hunting dog head flanked by antlers.
The plaque is inscribed in script and Gothic letters,
"Herrn Oberforstmeister Srhede in dankbarer
Verehrung die Beamten der Inspection Marienwerder
- Konitz. 1.Juli 1891 - 1. October 1897." (Herrn
Oberforstmeister Srhede in grateful admiration from
the Inspection Officials Marienwerder - Konitz.
1.July 1891 - 1.October 1897.) Both the silver frame
and plaque retain virtually 100% of the frosted
factory finish.The rear cover features four plain
raised studs which support the album when placed
on a table/desk top. The inside front and rear covers
are covered in gold damask fabric and secured by
a heavy silver, hinged clamp. The interior of the
album is comprised of six, heavy, gilt-edged, 3/16'"
thick, cardboard plates that are slotted to hold
6 5/8" X 8 ¾" black and white photographs
of the officials of the Marienwerder - Konitz. Hunting/Forestry
Association. Each photograph features 8 to 11 officials
in double-breasted tunics, straight trousers and
fedora-style hunting hats. Several hunting/forestry
hirschfängers are visible in the photographs.
One plate is without a photograph. Marienwerder
is located approximately 40km NE of Berlin. Superb
presentation album that could possibly be further
