& F. Hörster Edged Weapon Portfolio.
This large, 12 x 16 format portfolio
was prepared by the Hörster Company for distribution
to their customers after the manufacturing prohibition
on edged weapons went into effect on 1 September
1942. See pages 329 & 330 of Collecting the
Edged Weapons of the Third Reich, Volume II, for
a reprint of a May 1943 Hörster letter to a
customer discussing this portfolio and its possible
use as a window display until the restriction of
the prohibition was lifted. The portfolio contains
both color and black & white illustrations of
artistic saber designs. Most of the
color illustrations are of exotic patterns with
Royal motifs, while the black & white illustrations
are of actual items that had been manufactured by
the Hörster firm. The illustrations are in

blue, heavy cardboard binder with the Hörster
logo and name embossed on the front cover in silver.
