Army Medical Officer's Piped Field Service Tunic w/Ribbon Bar and Aiguilette.This superb tunic originally obtained in Germany, is constructed of Feldgrau Tricot/Elastique wool with bright pebbled aluminum buttons and bright aluminum bullion shoulderboards for the rank of Oberstabsarzt (Major) with cornflower blue underlay. Attached to each of the shoulder straps is a gold caduceus, the special career insignia for medical officers. Tunic features bright aluminum bullion collar patches with cornflower blue underlay, bullion breast eagle with green collar, sleeve cuffs and edges of both left and right front panels piped in cornflower blue. The tunic is complete with a Near MINT Officer's aluminum bullion dress aiguillette, a 5-ribbon bar, (War Merit Cross 2nd class w/Swords ribbon, Russian Front ribbon, Army Long Servicer ribbon w/Eagle device, 13 March 1938 Austria ribbon, and 01 October 1938 Czechoslovakia ribbon w/Prague Device), as well the 1939 Iron Cross 2nd Class ribbon in the 2nd button hole and two sets of loops on the left breast pocket. Interior of tunic is lined in Feldgrau artificial silk and is complete with interior belt (light lifting to nickel-plated buckle), dagger hanger strap, and sword /dagger hanger slit on the interior or the left lower pocket. The tunic is without a tailor's label and no indication that a label was ever present beneath the collar or inside the interior left breast pocket. The entire tunic, to include the Feldgrau wool body and interior lining grade Near MINT/MINT with no mothing, rips or tears. Tunic size is an approximate U.S. 38S. Near MINT/MINT (26531) $1,395.
