Navy Dagger w/Hammered Scabbard. ACS, scales TM. Gilted
brass hilt fittings show excellent detail with minor
wear to the highlights of the threaded type, flaming
ball pommel and crossguard with fouled anchor motif
on the quillon block. Black celluloid grip shows only
light surface wear with no cracks or chips, and is
complete with five swirls of tight twisted brass wire
wrap. Polished, plain, double-fullered blade grades
Exc+ showing light surface wear with some minor gray
shadowing, but no pitting or nicks to cutting edges.
Blade is complete with red felt blade buffer pad.
Hammered brass scabbard shows light surface wear with
several faint surface depressions on lower obverse/reverse
shell. Scabbard is complete with wide suspension bands
featuring well-defined oak leaves bordered by raised
edges and hammered ring, as pictured on page 77, right
of Collecting the Edged Weapons of Imperial
Germany. Dagger is complete with 42cm portepee
in EX condition, showing some light fraying to cord,
and tied in a clove hitch knot. Exc+ (24697) $1,650.
