Deluxe Senior Forestry Hirschfänger w/Eickhorn Squirrel Emblem & Portepee. Carl Eickhorn stamped squirrel holding sword TM. An illustration of this pattern Hirschfänger, recently obtained in Germany, appears in the Eickhorn Kundendienst as Nr. 1059. Gold washed aluminum hilt fittings retain virtually 100% of the gilting no lifting to the hilt spine or to the oak leaf embellished knuckle-bow and crossguard with stag hoof quillon, and clamshell which features a raised charging stag. Obverse ferrule features a raised Eickhorn squirrel while the reverse features a running doe. Both ferrule motifs are covered by the portepee. Off-white celluloid grip plates show light surface wear/age toning with a tiny hairline crack on the upper obverse/reverse plate adjacent to the spine. Obverse and reverse grip plates retain their three gilt acorns with oak leaves showing wear to highlights. Polished, double-etched blade measuring 32.4cm in length grades EX++ showing minor runner marks/surface wear and a few gray speckling , but no pitting or nicks to the cutting edge, and is complete with green felt blade buffer pad. Etch pattern features scenes of Auerhahns, stag and doe, hounds, boar and hunter as shown in the Kundendienst. Black leather scabbard shows light surface wear/scuffing to leather but no creasing, rips, tears or damage to the reverse stitching. Dent-free, gold washed brass hilt fittings retain approximately 90% of the factory wash and are complete with both wire type, retaining staples. Original green/silver bullion portepee in Exc++ conddition appears original to the piece. Exc+/Exc++ (24741) $1,795.
