Reich Transitional Boot/Fighting Knife. H. Böker
& Co. two-line TM. An illustration of this pattern
boot knife appears on page 8 of German Military
Fighting Knives 1914 - 1945 by Gordon A.
Hughes. Hilt fittings show light surface wear and
consist of a steel tang extension with light black
fine-grained wooden grip plates with nine, diagonal,
incised groves held in position by three metal rivets.
The steel crossguard features a short, hook-type,
downward angled, forward quillon and an upward curved
rear quillon. Polished steel 5 5/8" long single-edged
blade grades showing surface wear with gray shadowing
near obverse and reverse tip and ricasso, and cutting
edge has been sharpened. Dent-free steel scabbard
retains approximately 95% of the original black
enamel showing minor surface scratches/swear is
complete with a single spring clip riveted to the
reverse for attachment to a belt or to boots. Exc./Exc+
