NSKK Dagger by Scarce Maker w/3-Piece Hanger. Carl
Schmidt Sohn A.-G., Solingen, church within circle
TM. Nickel-silver hilt fittings show light surface
wear/age patina with reverse lower crossguard NSKK
Group marked, "S" (Sud) with headquarters
in Munich. Reddish brown, fine grained wooden grip
shows only minor surface wear with no cracks or
chips and with silver grip eagle and SA insert properly
inset. Early mirror polished blade grades Exc++
showing light surface wear/runner marks, one tiny
nick on the lower right cutting edge, (visible only
from the reverse), but no graying or pitting. Deeply
etched motto retains 100% of the light gray background
frosting. Steel scabbard retains approximately 95%
of the original black enamel showing surface wear/scratches
with one faint, barely visible, surface depression
on the center obverse. Nickel-silver scabbard fittings
with unturned screws show light surface wear/age
patina with several small depressions to the lower
fitting, but no damage to the lower ball. Lower
scabbard fitting is missing the left retaining screw.
Brown leather 3-piece hanger grades VG+/Exc. showing
wear/age to leather and age patina to the nickel-silver
buckle and unmarked clip. Exc+ (24752) $1,050.
