Royal Yugoslav Police or Government Dagger w/Hangers.
No Maker TM. An example of this pattern dagger with
hangers appears on pages 289 of World of Dress Daggers
1900-1945 by Robert J. Berger. The nickel hilt fittings,
including the Turks head pommel and open cross design
crossguard, similar to an Imperial German Navy dagger,
show minor wear/age/patina. The reverse crossguard
contains a center mounted scabbard release button
and is complete with a nickel butt plate. The spiral-grooved,
white plastic grip shows minor wear/age and is complete
with twisted silver wire wrap. The nickel-plated
double-etched diamond cross-section blade grades
EX+ showing light surface wear/runner marks, but
no lifting or peeling and no nicks to cutting edges
and is complete with brown leather blade buffer
pad. Double-etched blade features raised floral
motif on both obverse and reverse with a center
obverse panel featuring a Cyrillic "P"
with Roman Numeral II over the Royal crown cipher
of King Peter II. The dent-free, nickel-plated,
lightening bolt scabbard similar to an Imperial
German Navy scabbard shows light surface wear to
the shell and floral motif suspension bands. The
scabbard throat is attached with two round head
screws and a brass Royal Yugoslav state eagle is
mounted between the suspension bands. The black
leather, fourth pattern hangers with tan calfskin
backings grade EX++ and feature a brass upper spring
clip, and nickel plated buckles and lower swivel
clips. RARE combination. EX+ (25574) $1,350.
