Rare
Original Salesman Sample Miniature Dagger Display
Case. Brown leatherette hinged case measuring
12 ½" x 10 ½" features plain,
unmarked exterior lid with impressed border. Interior
lid is covered in padded blue velvet, with the lower
portion also covered in blue velvet and recessed
to accept the
following E. & F. Hörster miniature daggers:
Army (7 7/8"), 2nd Model Navy (7 7/8"),
2nd Model Luftwaffe (7 7/8"), DLV/1st Model
Luftwaffe (9 ½"), and Hunting Hirschfanger
(9 ¼"). Impressions in the velvet on
both the interior lid and recessed areas indicate
that miniature daggers were once present in the
case. The recessed areas are slightly slanted, high
left to low right, and hold the daggers in a near
vertical position. A similar example of this pattern
case with the daggers arranged in a horizontal position
is shown on page 203 of Collecting the Edged Weapons
of the Third Reich, Volume I. Superb, original salesman's
sample display case showing only faint wear to the
corners of the case, with no rips, tears, damage,
or scuffs. Superb example! Near MINT (21881) $1,500.
