| Early Fire Official's Dagger. No Maker.
Although unmarked, this dagger matches the Carl Eickhorn
example pictured on page 222 of Collecting The Edged
Weapons of Imperial Germany Volume I. Nickel-plated
hilt fittings show only minor surface wear with no
loss of plating to the bulbous style pommel with raised
floral motif and crossguard with fireman's helmet
on the quillon block and "clover leaf" quillons
as seen on Eickhorn produced examples. Black leather
covered grip with wire wrap grades Exc+ showing light
wear/loss of color, but rips or tears. Polished, double-etched
blade measuring 13 5/8" in length grades Exc+
showing light surface wear and some gray specking
on obverse/reverse, but no nicks cutting edges. Both
obverse and reverse feature 10" long frosted
panels with raised floral motifs flanking motifs of
fire equipment to include helmet, hook and ladder
and fire hoses. Blade is complete with red felt blade
buffer pad. Black leather scabbard shows light surface
wear/age with no creases, rips, tears, or damage to
the reverse stitching. Dent-free, upper and lower
nickel fittings show only minor surface wear with
no lifting and are complete with both retaining staples
as well as double suspension rings. Exc+ (25117) $1,195.
