Deluxe Presentation Weimar Fire Official's Dagger
w/Hangers & Under the Tunic Belt. Back-to-back
squirrels over C.E. within a single-oval (Carl Eickhorn)
TM. This deluxe Fire Official's Dagger was acquired
directly from the family of the original owner who
served for many years as the Fire Chief of the Haiger,
Germany Fire Department. An illustration of this
pattern dagger appears in the1908 Musterbuch der
Waffenfabrick Carl Eickhorn Solingen as Feuerwehr-Dolch
No 527. Ornate cast gilded brass hilt fittings feature
a bulbous style pommel with raised border on both
obverse and reverse with flaming grenade inside
border. Straight crossguard features heavily engraved
quillons with Fireman's hook and ladder on obverse
quillon block and an elongated diamond motif on
the reverse. Black bone/bakelite grip with spiral
swirls shows minor surface wear, but no cracks or
chips. Presentation, polished, center-ridged, double-etched
blade measuring 17 ¼" in length grades
EX/EX+ with surface wear/light gray speckling, but
no major pitting or nicks to cutting edges, and
is complete with original red felt buffer pad. The
obverse blade features a 12" long gray frosted
panel with a raised floral motif flanking the central
inscription, "1875 - Zum 50 jähringen
Bestehen der Wehr - 1925 / Gewidmet von der Freiw.
Haiger" (1875 - For 50 years Service - 1925
/ By the Haiger Volunteer Fire Department). The
reverse blade features a 12" long gray frosted
panel with a raised floral motif flanking a central
motif of fire fighting equipment to include fire
hose, ladder, pike, axe and fire helmet. Black leather
scabbard shows light surface wear with no creases,
rips, tears, or damage to the reverse stitching.
Dent-free, upper and lower gilded brass fittings
show light surface wear with much gilding remaining.
Reverse retaining staples are present as well as
undamaged, double suspension rings. The blue braided
fabric belt and black patent leather hangers with
regain chain and Navy pattern lion's head gilded
brass buckles grade EX++ showing only light wear/age.
