2nd Model Navy Dagger w/Glass-Like Grip & Portepee.
F. W. Höller, thermometer inside double oval
TM. This textbook Höller example was recently
obtained in Germany. Gilded brass hilt fittings
show only minor surface wear with virtually 10%
of the fire gilding remaining in the recesses of
the eagle/swastika pommel, and fouled anchor crossguard
with larger-than-normal quillon tips with extended
nipples unique to F. W. Höller produced Navy

grip is perfect with no cracks or chips and is complete
with springy style gilt wire as used by Höller.
Plated double-etched blade grades only VG, showing
much gray speckling and dark pitting to the lower
obverse/reverse blade near tip. Blade features the
Höller pattern fouled anchor and sailing ship
etched motif with some speckling to background frosting.
Blade is complete with an original red felt buffer
pad. Gilded brass scabbard shows minor surface wear
with portions of the factory gilding remaining in
the recesses of the lightning bolt and acanthus
pattern motif. Straight edged Höller pattern
scabbard suspension bands feature the thicker rings
as normally found on Höller products. Straight
edged Höller pattern scabbard suspension bands
with oak leaf pattern extending into the eyelets
feature the thicker rings as normally found on Höller
products. Attached to the dagger is an original
silver portepee in correct "reef knot"
tie. Portepee shows light surface wear and minor
fraying, primarily to the portepee slide and cord
which features a dark age patina throughout. Nice
textbook example. Exc. (24947) $1,295. HOLD
