Model Navy Dagger w/Dark Orange Grip & Portepee.
Alcoso, ACS Scales TM. Gilded brass hilt fittings
show uncleaned age residue to the factory fire gilding
on the highlights and in the recesses of the distinctive
Alcoso eagle/swastika pommel and unique Alcoso crossguard
with the diamond motif on the reverse quillon block
and more square shaped quillon arms, as well as
the smaller circumference of the lower crossguard
where it meets the butt plate. Crossguard is equipped
with a two-piece, blade release mechanism, however
the button portion has been lost to time The dark
orange, solid celluloid grip is perfect with no
cracks or chips and is complete with tight twisted
brass wire wrap. Plated double-etched blade grades
Exc+ showing minor surface wear/runner marks and
some gray speckling/shadowing, but no nicks to the
cutting edges. Blade is complete with red felt blade
buffer pad and with only faint age to the light
gray background frosting in the fouled anchor and
sailing ship motif etch pattern. Dent-free, gilded
brass, lightning bolt scabbard shows dark, age toning
to the factory gilding with a spot of dark oxidation
on the upper reverse. The scabbard features the
Alcoso style sharply pointed acanthus leaves on
the lower scabbard as well as steel, flat-head throat
retaining screws as used by Alcoso on later production
daggers. The original silver portepee in correct
"reef knot" tie shows light surface wear/
age patina and minor fraying, primarily to the cord
where it has rubbed against the crossguard. Nice
textbook Alcoso example. Exc+ (24948) $1,600.
