2nd Model Navy Dagger w/"Hamburg"
Markings.WKC, stamped knight's helmet TM. For
more information on these scarce daggers worn by
Hamburg NCO Harbor Officials, see page 349 of Exploring
the Dress Daggers of the German Navy by Thomas T.
Wittmann. A photograph of this actual dagger appears
on page 352 of the same reference. Gilded brass
hilt fittings show surface wear/age patina with
traces of gilding remaining in recesses of eagle
and swastika style pommel and crossguard with fouled
anchor motif. Off-white celluloid-over-wood grip
shows surface wear/age with a tiny hairline crack
on the upper reverse adjacent to pommel, and is
complete with original twisted brass wire wrap.
Hilt is slightly loose on blade tang. Plain, plated,
double-fullered blade grades EX+ showing light surface
wear/runner marks, but no graying or pitting and
no nicks to cutting edges. Reverse ricasso is stamped,
"Hamburg" beneath the Kriegsmarine mark
consisting of an open-winged stick style eagle/swastika
over "M". Blade is complete with brown
felt blade buffer pad. Dent-free, gilded brass hammered
scabbard shows light wear to highlights with much
gilding remaining in the recesses of hammered pattern.
