2nd Model Navy
Dagger Grouping. This grouping was recently
obtained in Germany from the family of a Third Reich
Naval officer who had earlier served in WWI as a
soldier in Reserve Infantry Regiment 93. Grouping
consists of a 2nd model Navy dagger w/portepee,
medal grouping, as well as documents concerning
WWI service.
A. 2nd Model Navy Dagger w/Portepee. Carl
Eickhorn stamped squirrel holding sword TM. This
later production model featuring gilt over gray
metal hilt fittings shows light wear/age to the
eagle/swastika pommel and fouled anchor crossguard.
Off-white celluloid-over-wood grip shows light surface
wear only with no cracks or chips and is complete
with tight twisted wire wrap. Plated double-etched
blade grades excellent+ showing runner marks/light
wear with some minor surface speckling to the obverse
and reverse ricasso. Etched panels with Eickhorn
style fouled anchor motif retain 100% of their light
gray background frosting, and blade is complete
with off-white felt blade buffer pad. Gilted later
production lightning bolt scabbard shows age/wear
with portions of gilting missing primarily to center
obverse between scabbard bands and one small surface
depression on the center obverse just above the
lower scabbard band.
B. Kriegsmarine Submarine War Badge. This
unmarked example shows light surface wear to the
oak leaf wreath surmounted by an eagle & swastika
in the center facsimile of a submarine. Hull of
submarine shows some minor pecking. Reverse badge
is unmarked and shows surface scratches to the frosted
finish and is complete with barrel-hinged wide pin.

C. M-1937 DRL Sports Badge in Bronze. This example
shows minor surface wear to the highlights of the
oak leaf wreath with swastika over a bow at the
bottom surrounding the intertwined initials, "DRL"
with portions of factory darkening remaining in
recesses. Reverse of badge retains much of the original
factory darkening and is maker marked, "Ernst
L. Müller Pforzheim" and "DRGM 35269."
Badge is complete with barrel-hinged wide pin. Exc+
D. Document Grouping. Documents included
in the grouping are:
a. Interim Award of the Iron Cross 2nd Class
Awarded to Grenadier August Schlaugat on 20 June
1918 and signed by the Regimental Commander.
b. Verification document of WWI service awarded
to August Schlaugat on 30 August 1927 by the German
Veteran's Association.
c. Award document for the 1914-1918 Cross
of Honor dated 25 January 1935.
All documents have been folded and show age and
wear, grading overall excellent.(26484) $2,750.
