1936 Chained
NSKK Dagger Grouping w/Medals & Photograph of
Original Owner. RZM M7/66, (Carl Eickhorn) TM.
This NSKK dagger grouping was originally obtained
in Germany from the family of the original owner,
NSKK-Staffelführer/NSKK-Oberstaffelführer
Nibur. The dagger features nickel-plated hilt fittings
showing minor surface wear/peckling adjacent to
the crossguards, but no major loss orf plating as
often found on plated fittings. Medium-brown, fine-grained
wooden grip shows virtually t surface wear with
no cracks or chips and with early quality grip-to-crossguard
fit. The silver grip eagle and SA insert are properly
inset. Polished blade grades EX+ with minor runner
marks and light gray shadowing/speckling, but no
pitting or nicks to the cutting edges. Deeply etched
motto retains 100% of the dark gray background frosting.
Dent-free, steel scabbard retains approximately
95% of the original black enamel, showing surface
crazing primarily to the upper obverse/reverse shell
with some tiny specks of missing paint primarily
to obverse shell where the chain hanger has rubbed
over the years. Dent-free nickel-plated upper, center
and lower scabbard fittings show light surface wear
with no lifting or pitting and with one tiny "ping"
to the underside of the lower ball. All scabbard
screws appear to be unturned with no damage. Nickel-plated
chain hanger shows light surface speckling to the
obverse/reverse links and connectors, but no major
lifting to plating. Reverse chain is properly marked
on the reverse, "Musterschutz NSKK-Korpsführung"
and is also RZM marked, "RZM M5/8" for
F.W. Assmann & Söhne, Ludenscheid). Upper
clip with oak leaf connector is unmarked. The hanger
is complete with EX++ brown leather hanger with
plated D-ring. Included with the dagger are two
photocopies of photographs of Herr Nibur in his
NSKK service uniform as an NSKK-Staffelführer
and NSKK-Oberstaffelführer. Although the unit
designation on the collar insignia is not perfectly
clear the Motorstandarten number appears to be either
"M 11" (Ostsee) or "M 13" (Hamburg).
Clearly shown in both photographs are the NSKK rank
insignia, ribbon bar, Iron Cross 1st Class and 2nd
pattern NSKK arm chevron. The decorations include
the 1914 Iron Cross 1st class with custom made screw-back
device and five-medal bar with 1914 Iron Cross,
Schwarzburg-Rudolstadt-Sondershausen War Service
Medal w/Swords, 1914-1918 Cross of Honor w/Swords,
Hungarian 1914-1918 Horty Medal and the Austrian
1914-1918 Commemorative Medal for World War I Service
w/Swords. Ribbons and medals show minor age and
bar is complete with felt backing and attaching
pin. Nice Eickhorn chained NSKK example with photographs
and medal grouping of original owner. EX++ (26220)
$5,400.
