Uncleaned 2nd Model Bahnschutz Dagger w/Original Portepee & Hangers. Carl Eickhorn, etched squirrel holding sword TM. This superb dagger with all accouterments was recently obtained from a long-established mid-west collection. Silver plated hilt fittings show light surface wear with dark, uncleaned age patina to the spherical pommel with raised sunwheel swastika, ribbed ferrule and crossguard with winged railcar wheel Bahnschutz insignia on the obverse langet. As is correct for an Eickhorn produced 2nd model Bahnschutz dagger, the crossguard winged insignia has a casting flaw in the right wing. Black solid celluloid ridged grip is perfect with no cracks or chips. Polished, mirror finished blade grades EX++/Near MINT showing only faint runner marks with no graying, pitting or nicks to cutting edges. Blade is complete with brown leather blade buffer pad. Dent-free, silver plated steel scabbard shows uncleaned, dark, age patina and a few specks of bubbling, but no lifting to plating. Portions of original factory frosting remain adjacent to the scabbard suspension bands. The rare, original Bahnschutz portepee which features black flecked aluminum cord, slide and stem with aluminum crown and acorn with black insert. Portepee is in Near MINTcondition showing only faint age to cord, stem and acorn. The hangers grade EX++ showing minor age to the bullion/black facings with no moth damage to black backings or to Army style oval buckles and deluxe oak leaf embellished lower clips.
