Uncleaned Early SA Dagger. Aesculap above snake wrapped around a crowned pole above Solingen within a double-circle TM. As stated on page 52 of The Sword And Knife Makers Of Germany 1850-2000 Volume 1 by the late Anthony Carter, "SA and NSKK daggers were produced with the round Aesculap marking". Uncleaned, nickel-silver hilt fittings show light surface wear and much yellow age patina with reverse lower crossguard SA Group marked "Sw" (Sudwest). Medium brown oak grained wooden grip with superb, early production quality grip-to-crossguard fit shows surface wear with a few minor depression and a tiny chip to the lower right obverse, but no cracks. Silver grip eagle and SA insert are properly inset. Early quality, mirror polished blade grades EX showing surface wear/runner marks gray shadowing and speckling, but no pitting or nicks to cutting edges. Deeply etched motto retains 100% of the light gray background frosting. Dent-free, steel scabbard shows uniform speckling/crazing to the brown anodization and factory lacquer. Nickel silver scabbard fittings with unturned screws, show surface wear/age patina with two faint depressions to the obverse lower fitting and a small depression to the underside of the lower ball. EX/EX+ (26074) $935.
