Unissued Transitional SA Dagger w/Paper Issue Tag & Hanger. Seated dog holding sword in his mouth within a circle bordered by PAUL SEILHEIMER SOLINGEN etched TM. An illustration of this pattern dagger appears in the Paul Seilheimer sales catalog as "S.A. Dolch Nr. 160". Nickel-silver hilt fittings show faint storage wear/age with no SA Group mark on the lower reverse crossguard. (The Group mark was normally applied at the SA distribution center). Reddish-brown, fine-grained wooden grip is perfect with no cracks, chips or depressions, and is complete with aluminum grip eagle and SA insert properly inset. Attached to the upper grip is a Near MINT triangular paper RZM quality control tag with faint age to paper, but no rips or tears and no damage to the attaching stud. Tag is marked on the obverse "SA-Dienstdolch nach Vorschrift HERSTELLER: P.S. (P.S. is stamped in red ink). The reverse is marked, "Reichszeugministerei der NSDAP. A No 112761". Polished blade grades EX+/EX++ retaining much of the factory cross-graining with minor runner marks with light gray shadowing i to obverse and reverse, but no nicks to cutting edges. Deeply etched motto retains 100% of the light gray background frosting. Dent-free steel scabbard retains approximately 98% of the original chocolate brown factory enamel with a few surface scratches to center obverse shell, but no evidence of wear. Dent-free, nickel-plated scabbard fittings show minor surface wear with a spot of oxidation/lifting on the lower edge of the upper fitting and left edge of lower fitting, but no lifting and no damage to the lower ball or to the scabbard screws which appear to be unturned. The brown leather hanger which appears to have never been buckled, grades EX++ showing only minor wear to the unmarked leather and oxidation/lifting to the nickel-plated buckle, but no wear to the RZM M5/71 oLc marked upper clip. Nice unissued SA dagger with paper issue tag. EX++ (26154) $2,295. SOLD
