Uncleaned Army Officer Dagger w/Portepee and Factory-Issued Tag. WKC, knight's helmet TM. This textbook example exhibits features associated with WKC produced Army daggers: 2nd style WKC crossguard with "tomahawk" beak design and scabbard with one flat head pattern throat retaining screw as used later in the period. Silver-plated pommel, ferrule and crossguard show uniform uncleaned dark (almost gun metal gray) age patina with no lifting or crazing to plating. Light orange solid celluloid grip is perfect with no cracks or chips. Mirror polished blade grades Near MINT showing only light surface wear/runner marks to the flat of the blade with no nicks to cutting edge or gray shadowing. Blade is complete with black/dark brown leather blade buffer pad. Dent-free silver-plated steel scabbard is covered in gun metal gray patina with portions of original factory frosting adjacent to well detailed oak leaf suspension bands. Dagger is complete with excellent++ 42cm portepee showing only minor surface wear but no rips or tears, as well as an original WKC gold/red paper tag.
