Officer Dagger w/Ivory Grip, Voos Pattern Double-Etched
Blade, and Deluxe Hangers. No maker. Although unmarked,
this dagger exhibits all the features associated
with Voos produced double-etched blades: nickel
plated highlights, frosted panels, and the distinctive
Army style eagle etch with sharp 45? angled straight
wing tips and oak leaf motifs beneath each wing.
Silver plated hilt fittings show some minor surface
speckling to the plating and dark age patina to
the oak leaf pommel, well-detailed oak leaf ferrule,
and Anton Wingen style crossguard. Genuine ivory
grip is perfect with no cracks, chips, or nicks,
and shows nice age striations as well as aging in
the recesses of the raised segment separation turns.
Plated double-etched blade grades excellent++ showing
minor surface wear/runner marks with a small speck
of lifting to the plating on the obverse and reverse
tip but no nicks or damage to the cutting edges.
Blade is complete with brown leather buffer pad.
Dent-free silver plated scabbard shows excellent
detail to the pebbling with light surface wear and
light age patina. Scabbard features two flush-mounted
throat retaining screws. Dagger is complete with
silver plated oak leaf embellished upper tabs, heavy
buckles, slides, and lower clips with raised oak
leaves. Nice Army dagger with Voos quality double-etched
blade. Recently obtained in Germany. Exc++ (23075)
