Army Officer Dagger w/Portepee & Hangers. Carl Eickhorn, etched squirrel holding sword TM. Silver-plated hilt fittings show age patina to well detailed oak leaf embellished pommel, ferrule and crossguard with Eickhorn 2nd pattern eagle. Much factory darkening remains in the recesses of the pommel and ferrule oak leaf motif, as well as the crossguard eagle/swastika. Medium yellow grip shows minor surface wear, but no cracks, chips or other damage with nice age toning in the recesses of the grip swirls. Polished blade grades EX++ showing light surface wear/runner marks, with minor gray speckling obverse right edge and where runners have rested against blade, but no pitting or nicks to cutting edges and is complete with brown leather blade buffer pad. Dent-free, silver-plated scabbard shows light surface wear/age patina with a some gray specking on pebbled panels and edges. Scabbard features the thick throat, reverse, center mounted, flat-head screw and flatter oak leaf motif on the scabbard bands normally associated with Eickhorn 2nd pattern Army daggers. Dagger is complete with a Near MINT 42cm portepee and standard hangers which show light wear to fabric and to the silver-plate-over-brass fittings.
