Uncleaned Army Officer's Dagger w/Dark Orange Grip & Portepee. Carl Eickhorn, etched squirrel holding sword TM. Silver-plated hilt fittings show dark age patina to well detailed oak leaf embellished pommel and crossguard with Eickhorn 2nd pattern eagle with much factory darkening remains in the recesses of the pommel oak leaves as well as the crossguard eagle/swastika. Dark orange grip shows only minor surface wear with no cracks or chips and is nicely age toned darker on the obverse. Polished blade grades EX++/Near MINT showing faint surface wear/runner marks, primarily where runners have rested against blade, with a few faint gray specks specks near tip, but no pitting or nicks to cutting edges and is complete with brown leather blade buffer pad. Dent-free, silver-plated scabbard shows dark age patina with portions of factory lacquer remaining on the upper scabbard adjacent to throat. Scabbard is complete with the thick throat and reverse, center mounted, flat-head screw normally associated with Eickhorn 2nd pattern Army daggers. Dagger is complete with an EX+ 42cm portepee showing light wear/age to cord where it has rubbed against the crossguard.. Nice Eickhorn produced Army dagger with desirable dark orange grip.
