Army
Officer Dagger. Robt. Klaas, Solingen stamped kissing
cranes TM. Silver plated hilt fittings show light
surface wear and dark age patina to the oak-leaf
embellished pommel and E. Pack & Söhne
pattern crossguard as pictured on page 48, upper
right of Exploring the Dress Daggers of the German
Army by Thomas T. Wittmann. Medium yellow, solid
celluloid grip shows surface wear, one tiny hairline
crack on the lower obverse and one chip on the center
reverse age residue in the recesses of the typical
longer, nine sectioned Klaas pattern grip. Plated
blade grades EX++ showing minor surface wear/runner
marks and some faint gray speckling near tip, but
no nicks to cutting edges. Blade is complete with
tan leather buffer pad. Dent-free, silver plated
scabbard shows only minor age patina with asterisk
to cover the molding seam in the suspension bands
which is standard for Klaas produced daggers. Nice
Klaas example. Exc+/Exc++ (24282) $695.
