Uncleaned
Personalized Army Officer's Dagger. Carl Eickhorn,
etched squirrel holding sword TM. Silver-plated
hilt fittings show surface wear to highlights with
dark uncleaned age patina on the well detailed oak
leaf pommel, as well as the early E. Pack pattern
crossguard. Although Eickhorn was one of the largest
producers of Army Daggers, they apparently did on
occasion, purchase parts from other manufacturers.
Reverse crossguard is jeweler engraved with the
original owner's monogram, "RH" in capital
letters. Solid celluloid grip shows light surface
wear with no cracks or chips, and age toning from
dark orange on the obverse to lighter yellow/orange
on the reverse. Mirror polished blade grades Exc+
showing light surface wear/runner marks with some
minor gray spotting, but no nicks to the cutting
edges and is complete with brown leather blade buffer
pad. Silver-plated scabbard shows superb detail
to the pebbled shell with a faint surface depression
to the lower obverse/reverse. Scabbard retains portions
of factory lacquer on the upper shell which features
the reverse center mounted screw and thick throat
normally associated with Eickhorn produced Army
Daggers. Nice personalized example recently obtained
in Germany. Exc+/Exc++ (24551) $695.
