This mid-production example features the Alcoso pattern crossguard used from approximately 1937-1940 as shown on page 21, lower, of Exploring the Dress Daggers of the German Army by Thomas T. Wittmann. Silver-plated hilt fittings show dark, age patina to both the distinctive Alcoso pommel with small base and outstanding oak leaf detail and crossguard. Medium orange, solid celluloid grip has one tint nick on left side swirl edge, but no cracks or chips. Plated blade grades Exc+ showing minor surface wear/runner marks and gray shadowing/speckling to flats of blade, but no nicks to cutting edges and is complete with black leather blade buffer pad. Dent-free silver-plated scabbard shows age patina matching the pommel and crossguard, and features the standard flathead scabbard screws used throughout the production period by Alcoso. Hangers grade Exc+ showing light surface wear to the bullion facings and velvet backings, and silver-plated buckles/slides, pebbled lower clips and aluminum, box-type upper fitting Nice Alcoso combination.
