Uncleaned
Army Officer Dagger w/Portepee & Standard Hangers.
Carl Eickhorn, etched squirrel holding sword TM.
Silver-plated hilt fittings show light age patina
with much factory lacquer/darkening remaining on
well detailed oak leaf embellished pommel &
crossguard with Eickhorn 2nd pattern eagle. Medium
orange, solid celluloid grip with nice age toning
in grip swirls, has two small hairline cracks on
upper obverse/reverse, but no chips, or other damage.
Polished blade grades Exc++ showing light surface
wear/runner marks and a few tiny gray specks, but
no pitting or nicks to cutting edges. Is complete
with brown leather blade buffer pad. Dent-free silver-plated
scabbard shows a few dark age specks to pebbled
panels with much factory lacquer/frosting remaining
on edges of shell. Scabbard features the post-1937
pattern single side-mounted throat retention screw
as used by WKC. Although Eickhorn was one of the
largest producers of Army daggers, they apparently
purchased parts from other manufacturers. Standard
hangers show wear to silver plating over brass upper
box-type fitting, buckles, slides, & lower clips.
Nice combination w/uniform dark age patina/factory
finish. Exc++ (24953) $1,050. SOLD
