Uncleaned
Army Officer Dagger w/Dark Orange Grip. F. Herder,
crossed keys TM. Since the F. Herder Firm is not
noted as a major manufacturer of Army Officer's
Daggers, this example was most likely produced by
F. Herder using parts obtained from the independent
casters as well as the Alcoso firm. Silver-plated
hilt fittings show light age patina/minor speckling
with much factory darkening remaining in the recesses
of the well detailed oak leaf embellished pommel
and "generic" crossguard with the step-down
curve in the eagle brow area. Dark orange, solid
celluloid grip shows a minor surface wear and age
toning in the recesses of the grip swirls, but no
cracks, chips, or damage. Polished blade grades
Exc++ showing light surface wear/runner marks, and
uncleaned age residue, but no pitting or nicks to
cutting edges, and is complete with brown leather
blade buffer pad. Dent-free silver-plated scabbard
shows light age patina with some age speckling/age
discoloration, but no damage to pebbled shell .
Scabbard features the hand-enhanced suspension bands
and flat-head screws normally associated with Alcoso
pattern Army daggers . Exc++ (24976) $945.
