Uncleaned
Army Officer Dagger w/Portepee. WKC, knight's helmet
TM. This textbook example exhibits features associated
with WKC produced Army daggers: 2nd style WKC crossguard
with "tomahawk" beak design and scabbard
with one flat head pattern side-mount, throat retaining
screw as used later in the period. Silver-plated
pommel, ferrule and crossguard show uniform uncleaned
age patina with no lifting or crazing to plating.
Medium yellow, solid celluloid grip shows minor
surface wear/age toning with one tiny nick on edge
of grip swirl on upper reverse. Mirror polished
blade grades Exc++ showing light surface wear/runner
marks to the flats of the blade and a tiny nick
to lower reverse cutting edge, but no graying or
pitting, Blade is complete with dark brown leather
blade buffer pad. Dent-free silver-plated steel
scabbard retains much of original factory frosting
on scabbard edges with age patina to pebbled panels
and to well detailed oak leaf suspension bands.
The 23cm, Luftwaffe pattern, portepee appears original
to the dagger and grades VG+ with wear/fraying to
cord. Exc++ (24994) $865.
