Uncleaned Army Officer Dagger w/Maker Marked Crossguard. E. & F. Hörster, Double Oval, sword-within-"H" TM. This uncleaned example features heavily silvered hilt fittings with dark gray patina and much factory remaining on the oak leaf embellished pommel, ferrule and last style Hörster crossguard. Underside of crossguard, beneath the blade buffer pad, is maker marked with a raised Hörster "H". Light yellow, solid celluloid grip is perfect with no cracks, chips, or damage. Polished blade grades Exc++/Near MINT showing minor surface wear where runners have rested, but no shadowing, pitting or nicks to cutting edges and is complete with tan leather blade buffer pad. Dent-free steel scabbard retains portions of factory lacquer to edges of scabbard with dark age patina to the well detailed pebbled panels and oak leaf suspension bands. Scabbard is complete with the thicker scabbard throat retained by two dome head side screws as used by Hörster. Superb, text book Hörster example with maker marked crossguard. Near MINT (24998) $945.
