Personalized Uncleaned Army Officer Dagger
.WKC, knight's helmet TM. Silver-plated hilt fittings
show light surface wear/age patina to the oak leaf
embellished pommel and generic pattern crossguard
with small slope to the brow area between the upper
head and beak of the eagle. Reverse crossguard is
jeweler engraved with the personalization, "Dr.
Abels 1938" in script letters. Off-white, plaster-filled,
celluloid grip has one tiny hairline crack on the
right upper edge adjacent to pommel, but no chips
or nicks. Polished blade grades Exc++ showing minor
surface wear/runner marks with no gray speckling
or nicks to cutting edges and is complete with dark
brown/black leather blade buffer pad. Dent-free,
silver-plated steel scabbard shows minor surface
wear with portions of factory frosting remaining
on edges of shell.. Scabbard features the two, side-mounted
scabbard throat retention screws as used initially
by WKC. Research in the Germany Army Ranklists does
not reveal an officer named "Abels" which
possibly indicates Dr. Abels was a reserve officer.
This officer could probably be further researched
in German archives. Exc+/Exc++ (25067) $995. SOLD
