Army Officer's Dagger by RARE Maker w/Dark Orange Grip, Portpee & Hangers. C. Gustav Spitzer, Solingen, prancing lion within circle TM. Silverl-plated hilt fittings show light surface wear with dark, uncleaned age patina to well detailed oak leaf embellished pommel and hand-embellished crossguard with Spitzer pattern eagle as pictured on page 59 of Exploring The Dress Daggers pf the German Army by Thomas T. Wittmann. Dark-orange, solid celluloid grip with thin segments slanted drastically to the left, as shown in the above reference, shows minor surface wear, but no hairline cracks or chips. Plated blade grades EX+ showing light runner marks, light gray shadowing/speckling and several tiny nicks to the lower right cutting edge, and complete with black leather blade buffer pad. Silver-plated scabbard with dark, uncleaned age patina matching the hilt fittings, shows minor surface wear with a tint "peck" to the lower obverse shell, and is complete with well detailed oak leaf suspension bands and two, side mounted, flat-head throat retaining screws.
