Army Officer's Dagger w/Portepee & General Officer Hangers. A. Schüttelhöfer, ASSO Solingen-Wald, crossed hobby horses TM. This RARE Schüttelhöfer example shows surface wear/age patina to the well detailed oak leaf pommes and Eickhorn 1st pattern crossguard. Medium yellow solid celluloid grip with the slanted swirls shows surface wear/age with a few tiny nicks but no chips or cracks. Polished blade grades EX+ showing surface wear where runners have rested against the flats of the blade, light gray shadowing and a tiny "crimp" near tip, but no pitting or nicks to cutting edges. Blade is complete with brown leather blade buffer pad. Dent-free plated scabbard shows light age patina and appears to be an early Eickhorn 1st pattern style equipped with beveled suspension bands and two flat-head, side mounted scabbard throat retaining screws. Dagger is complete with EX+ 42cm portepee in correct tie as well as standard hangers with gilded General Officer fittings. Hangers show light wear to fabric and some loss of gold plating to upper fitting and lower clips. Nice example by a RARE Army dagger maker complete with General Officer hangers. EX+ (25778) $1,250.
