Personalized Army Officer's Dagger w/Portepee & Standard Hangers. WKC, knight's helmet TM. This dagger was originally brought home as a gift from a German friend, at the end of the war. Silver-plated hilt fittings show virtually no wear with light age patina to the oak leaf embellished pommel and 2nd pattern WKC crossguard with "tomahawk" style beak design. Medium yellow grip is perfect with no nicks or cracks. Polished blade grades EX++/Near MINT showing minor surface wear/runner marks, but no graying or nicks to the cutting edges, and is complete with light brown leather blade buffer pad. The obverse blade is non-professionally engraved with the personalization, "Souvenir to my friend Troye from your faithfully friend Willÿ F. Kilfitt - Minich (Germany) June 1945". The reverse blade is inscribed, "Forgot not this: All Germans has nothing Nazis!! -". Dent-free silver-plated steel scabbard shows virtually no wear with light age patina matching the hilt fittings and features the post-1937 pattern single side-mounted scabbard throat retaining screw. Dagger is complete with original 42cm portepee showing light age/wear and EX+ standard hangers with missing spring portions of lower fitting on shot strap. Nice, veteran acquired piece.
