Army Officer's Dagger w/RARE Blade
Etch.Hubertus, Solingen TM. This dagger, with
RARE pattern etched blade, was originally purchased
at a midwest motel buy from a WWII veteran. Silver
plated hilt fittings show light surface wear to
oak leaf embellished pommel dark and "generic"
pattern crossguard with small slope to the brow
area between the upper head and beak of the eagle.
Medium yellow, solid celluloid grip, age-toned slightly
darker on the obverse, shows only faint wear with
no hairline cracks, chips or nicks. Plated blade
showing surface wear with spidering to plating on
both obverse and reverse, but no nicks to cutting
edges and no damage to blade tip. The obverse blade
features a unique 4 ¼" long etched panel
with raised oak leaves and hunting scenes of a stag
and doe. The etched panel retains portions of the
gilded background frosting and blade is complete
with unusual red felt buffer pad. NOTE: Hubertus
was a major manufacturer of hunting and forestry
edged weapons, which may explain the unique Hunting/Forestry-related
etch motif. Dent-free, "generic" scabbard
shows light surface wear to plating with excellent
detail to pebbling and to the oak-leaf suspension
bands. The scabbard is complete with the thin throat
and the "generic" style thin throat ans
a single, side-mounted headless retaining screw.
Unique veteran acquired Army dagger with RARE blade
etch pattern. EX/EX+ (26208) $1,995. SOLD
