Variation Hitler Youth Knife w/o Motto. Garantie
..gen beneath a circular stamped motif TM.
The "Garantie" TM is illustrated on page
53 of The Sword and Knife Makers of Germany 1850-2000
by the late Anthony Carter, as one of the trademarks
of the Peter Altenbach & Söhne, Schwnenwerk
Firm of Solingen-Ohligs. The trademark is one of
the rarest found on HJ knives. Nickel-plated hilt
fittings show virtually no surface wear with no
loss of plating to pommel or crossguard. Black bakelite
grip plates are perfect with an early quality cloisonne
HJ emblem properly inset into obverse grip plate.
Polished, blade without motto, measuring approximately
¾" less in length than a standard HJ
Knife, grades EX++ with minor runner marks/gray
speckling and one small "crimp" to cutting
edge, but no pitting or sharpening to the cutting
edge, and is complete with black leather blade buffer
pad. Obverse reverse ricasso is stamped with the
date, "1942". Dent-free, steel scabbard,
measuring approximately ¼" less in length
than a standard HJ scabbard, retains approximately
95% of original black enamel, showing minor loss
of paint primarily near tip, but no crazing. Scabbard
is complete with dark brown leather hanger/belt
loop complete with grip strap in EX++ condition
showing virtually no wear or age. EX++ (25830) $450.
