      Subordinate Deluxe Forestry Hirschfanger w/Eickhorn Squirrel Emblem. Carl Eickhorn (stamped squirrel holding sword) TM. Gilted aluminum hilt fittings show surface wear to highlights of oak leaf embellished knuckle-bow and crossguard, and to the clamshell which features a charging stag. Obverse ferrule features the Eickhorn squirrel stamped into the aluminum, while the reverse features a running doe. An example of this Hirschfanger is listed in the Eickhorn Kundendienst catalog as Nr. 1212. Dark brown staghorn grip plates are perfect with no cracks or chips, and with all six acorn and oak leaf grip emblems present. Plated, double-etched blade grades excellent+, with light surface wear/runner marks and some light gray shadowing. Is complete with original green felt blade buffer pad. Etch pattern features scenes of Auerhahns, stag and doe, hunting dogs and boar. It is the same pattern as shown in the Kundendienst catalog. Blade spine is distributor-marked "W. Michovius, Cottbus". Black leather crease-free scabbard shows light surface wear with a few minor nicks to the leather, but no damage to the reverse stitching. Gilted brass hilt fittings show light surface wear with portions of gilting remaining, and are complete with retaining staples. Lower obverse fitting features a raised hunting scene of dogs, hunting equipment, and pheasants. Nice example of a deluxe Forestry Hirschfanger. Exc. (20048) $1,695.
