Forestry Hirschfänger w/Ivory Grip & Frog.
WKC, knight's helmet TM. This exact pattern Hirschfänger
is illustrated in the WKC sales catalog as pattern
Nr. 96. Plain, gilted brass hilt fittings show light
surface wear/age patina to the unadorned spine,
knuckle-bow and crossguard with fluted clamshell.
Off-white, nicely toned, genuine ivory grip plates
show light surface wear with no cracks or chips,
and are complete with three acorns without oak leaves
on both obverse and reverse grip plates. Plated
double-etched blade measuring 33cm in length grades
EX, showing light surface wear/runner marks with
several areas of gray spotting on upper obverse/reverse,
but no nicks to cutting edge, and is complete with
tan leather blade buffer pad. Blade etch features
floral motif flanking a central panel with hunting
scenes of hounds, foxes, stag and doe herd with
minor wear to the background frosting. Dent-free
leather scabbard shows only minor surface wear with
some scuffing to reverse, but no rips, tears, or
creases, and no damage to the reverse stitching.
Dent-free, upper and lower gilted brass plain fittings
retain virtually 100% of the factory fire gilting
and lacquer and are complete with both retaining
staples. Scabbard is complete with EX++ green leather
frog with green felt backing showing several moth
nips. Nice WKC example with ivory grip plates recently
obtained in Germany. EX+/EX++ (24012) $1,495.
