"Reichsmarschall" Hermann Göring
Hirschfänger w/o Scabbard. ACS, scales (Alcoso)
TM. Ornate, solid, gilted, one-piece, hilt/grip
shows minor wear to the upper portion of the boar's
head pommel with virtually 100% of the gilting remaining
on the heavily chased, oak leaf embellished, grip,
re-curved crossguad with stag hoof quillons and
ornate, cartouche shaped clamshell with a raised
motif of a reclining stag and two does in a forest
setting within a heavy raised border. Polished,
double-etched, quill-back blade measuring 16 ¼"
in length, grades Exc+ showing surface wear and
some gray spotting on both obverse and reverse,
but no nicks to the cutting edge. Both obverse and
reverse blade feature 9 5/8" long, lightly
etched panels depicting scenes of hunter, hounds,
hunting equipment. Stag, doe and fox in a forest
setting. Extending beyond the hunting etch on the
reverse lower blade is the inscription, "Dem
Reichsmarschall Hermann Göring" in raised
capital letters. Spine of blade is complete with
a laurel leaf motif running the length of the etched
panels and blade is complete with green leather
blade buffer pad. Unfortunately, the accompanying
scabbard has been lost to to time. Unique, one-of-a-kind,
presentation Hirschfänger recently obtained
