 Deluxe Senior Forestry Hirschfänger w/Eickhorn Squirrel Emblem & Portepee. Carl Eickhorn, stamped squirrel holding sword TM. An illustration of this pattern Hirschfänger, recently obtained in Germany, appears in the Eickhorn Kundendienst as Nr. 1059. Gilded brass hilt fittings show light surface wear to highlights with 100% of the gilding remaining in the recesses of the oak leaf embellished knuckle-bow and crossguard with stag hoof quillon, and clamshell which features a raised charging stag. Obverse ferrule features a raised Eickhorn squirrel while the reverse features a running doe. The ivory grips show only minor wear/age toning/striations with no cracks or chips. All six gold washed acorns with oak leaves are present with light wear to reverse lower acorn. Polished, double-etched blade measuring 32.5cm in length grades Ex++ showing only light surface wear/runner marks but no nicks to cutting edge, and is complete with green felt blade buffer pad. Etch pattern features scenes of Auerhahns, stag and doe, hounds, boar and hunter as shown in the Kundendienst. Blade spine is also etched with oak leaf motif. Black leather scabbard shows light wear/age but no rips, tears, folds or damage to the reverse stitching. Gold washed scabbard fittings show nearly 100% of gildong and no dings or damage. Fittings are stapled to the scabbard and marked with # 4. Silver bullion portepee with green stripes in the strap grades EX+, showing light fraying and one cut near the acorn.
