Early
Deluxe Presentaion Hunting Hirschfänger.
Clemen & Jung, "Z" within crowned
shield above Solingen inside single-oval TM. Cast
brass deluxe hilt fittings show light surface wear/age
patina in the recesses of the heavily chiseled oak
leaf pommel with acorn style pommel nut, serrated
ferrule, crossguard with oak leaf/acorn quillon
block, and recurved stag's head and hound's head
quillons. Well detailed clamshell features a forest
scene with Auerhahn on a tree branch within a plain
oval border. Dark brown stag horn grip is perfect
with no cracks, chips, or damage, and is complete
with two gold/brass acorns w/oak leaves on the obverse.
Polished double-etched blade measuring 30.1cm in
length grades EX+ showing light surface wear/runner
marks with some light gray shadowing, but no nicks
to the cutting edge. Obverse blade features an 8
¼" long etched panel with a raised floral
and dove motif flanking the central inscription,
"Wer waidmannisch Jagt wie sich's gehört
den Schöpfer im Geschöpfe ehrt" (Who
hunts in the traditional/appropriate way honors
the Lord and the hunted) in raised Gothic letters.
Reverse blade features an 8 ¼" long
etched panel featuring a stag and doe herd running
through a forest scene. Both etched panels as well
as the laurel leaf motif on the blade spine retain
100% of the gray frosting, and blade is complete
with the original dark brown pebbled leather buffer
pad. Black leather scabbard shows light age, but
no creases, scuffs nor damage to the reverse stitching.
Upper and lower brass fittings show surface wear/age
patina with a faint depression to the obverse lower
fitting. Both the obverse and reverse lower fitting
feature an incised motif of a stag in a forest scene.
