An illustration of this pattern Hirschfänger appears in the WKC sales catalog as Nr. 95, "Fein Ciselierter Hirschfänger für Untere Forstbeamte mit Hirschhornschalen" (Fine Chiseled Hirschfänger for Subordinate/Under Forestry Official with Stag Horn Grip Plates). Gilded brass hilt fittings show virtually no wear with 100% of factory gilding and lacquer remaining on the heavily chiseled oak leaf embellished knuckle-bow, ferrule and crossguard with deluxe pattern clamshell featuring a raised hunting dog in forest setting. Dark/medium brown stag horn grip plates are perfect with no cracks or chips and are complete with three gilded brass acorns with oak leaves on the obverse plate while the reverse plate is missing the lower acorn w/oak leaves. The acorn/oak leaves emblems retain 100% of the factory gilding. Plated, double-etched blade measuring 30cm in length grades Near MINT showing faint surface wear/runner marks, with no gray speckling/shadowing and no nicks to cutting edge. Obverse blade features scenes of a hunter with hunting dogs attacking a wild boar, while the reverse scene features a hunter shooting at a running stag and doe. Both etched panels as well as the laurel leaf motif on the spine retain 100% of the light gray background frosting, and blade is complete with brown leather buffer pad. Dent-free black leather scabbard grades Near MINT showing only minor surface wear with no loss of color, no rips, tears, or creases, and no damage to the reverse stitching. Dent-free, upper and lower gilded brass plain fittings retain virtually 100% of the factory fire gilding and are complete with both retaining staples. The fittings are stamped "21" under the staples. The solid green wool portepee grades EX+ showing light age/wear, but no rips or tears. The brown leather, double-stitched, V-notch frog grades Near Mint showing only minor wear, but no rips or damage to stitching. Superb combination!
