2nd
Model Luftwaffe Dagger w/Ivory Grip & Double-Etched
Blade. Emil Voos, stamped snake around tree
trunk single oval TM. This dagger exhibits all of
the textbook features associated with Voos produced
double-etched blades: impressive etch motifs, contrasting
frosted panels, 2nd pattern Luftwaffe eagle with
laurel leaf sprigs, and heavy nickel plating. The
WKC pattern pommel with pebbled background is the
style sold as a "no-maker" example. Well
detailed, SMF pattern, aluminum crossguard shows
minor surface wear with unique SMF oak leaf pattern
on the upper surface of the quillon. Genuine ivory
grip shows light age striations/toning with two
small hairline cracks on the upper obverse adjacent
to the pommel, but no chips or nicks. Grip is complete
with tight springy aluminum wire wrap as normally
found on Voos ivory grips. High quality heavily
plated double etched blade grades Exc/Exc+ showing
light surface wear with some light gray speckling
primarily on the reverse ricasso and tip of blade.
The blade has been professionally re-tipped, resulting
in a ¼" reduction in length. Etched
panels retain 100% of the factory background frosting
and the blade is complete with brown leather blade
buffer pad. Dent-free, "generic" scabbard
shows only light surface wear with virtually 100%
of the airplane gray finish remaining with superb
detail to the oak leaf pattern suspension bands.
Throat is retained by one headless, flush mounted,
reverse screw. Aluminum bullion, 23cm portepee shows
only minor wear with no fraying to cord or acorn
