Model Luftwaffe Dagger w/White Grip. Ernst Pack
& Söhne M-B-H Waffenfabrik, Solingen, large
Siegfried wielding hammer, Siegfried Waffen TM.
As stated on page 187 of Exploring the Dress Daggers
of the German Luftwaffe by Thomas T. Wittmann, "Although
Pack made distinctive in-house fittings, they also
bought fittings from private casters". This
dagger is an example of this practice. Hilt fittings
show light surface wear with much factory darkening
remaining on the WKC pattern pommel and the "generic"
crossguard with relief-style oak leaves featuring
right leaf over left motif on the upper quillon
surfaces and courser pebbled panel on the reverse
crossguard. Off-white, celluloid-over-wood grip
shows only light surface wear with no cracks or
chips and is complete with tight twisted wire wrap.
Polished blade grades EX showing light surface wear/runner
marks, minor gray speckling and several tiny nicks
to right cutting edge and is complete with tan leather
blade buffer pad. Dent-free, silver-plated steel
Eickhorn pattern scabbard shows light surface wear/age
with some loss of plating primarily to the edges
and complete with convex style Eickorn suspension
bands. The thicker pattern scabbard throat is retained
by two headless screws. Nice early E. Pack example
recently veteran estate acquired in the state of
Tennessee. EX+ (25617) $795.
