2nd Model Luftwaffe Dagger w/Portepee &
Standard Hangers. A. Schüttelhöffer
Solingen-Wald, crossed hobby horses above ASSO within
an elongated double-oval TM. Aluminum hilt fittings
with light gray factory finish show minor wear to
the WKC pattern pommel with pebbled finish to the
background of the swastikas which appear to have
never been gilded, as well as the "generic"
crossguard with the right over left oak leaf pattern
on the upper quillon and the courser pattern on
the reverse panel. Light yellow, solid celluloid
grip with deep, age toned swirls and tight twisted
wire wrap is perfect with no cracks or chips. Plated
blade grades EX+/EX++ showing light surface wear/runner
marks, and a few specks of gray shadowing, and three
tiny nicks to lower right cutting edge, but no pitting
or lifting. Blade and is complete with dark brown
leather buffer pad. Dent-free, nickel-plated scabbard
appears to be an E. Pack & Söhne example
and shows minor wear/speckling to the pebbled panels
and the oak leaf suspension bands. The scabbard
throat is retained by two dome head throat retaining
screws as pictured on page 216 of Exploring the
Dress Daggers of the German Luftwaffe by Thomas
Wittmann. The original 23cm portepee grades Near
MINT/MINT, while the standard hangers in EX++ condition
show minor wear/age to fabric and fittings. EX++
(26130) $995. HOLD
