2nd Model Luftwaffe Dagger w/Portepee & Hangers. Carl Eickhorn, stamped squirrel holding sword TM. This textbook Eickhorn example recently obtained in Germany features natural finished aluminum hilt fittings showing light surface wear with factory darkening remaining in the recesses of the well detailed Eickhorn "heart-shaped" pommel and eagle & swastika crossguard with Eickhorn style incised oak leaves on the upper surface of the quillons. Pommel swastikas retain traces of original factory gold wash with wear primarily on the outer edges of the arms of the swastikas. Medium yellow celluloid grip has one chip as well as two hairline cracks on lower reverse adjacent to ferrule (covered by portepee). Grip is complete with tight springy aluminum wire wrap. Plated blade grades excellent+ showing light surface wear/runner marks with some gray shadowing on both obverse and reverse and minor surface scratching on the upper reverse but no nicks or damage to the cutting edges. Blade is complete with dark brown/black leather blade buffer pad. Dent-free steel scabbard retains virtually 100% of the original factory gray finish and is complete with well detailed Eickhorn pattern suspension bands. Scabbard throat is the thicker variety usually found on Eickhorn examples and is retained by two headless screws. Dagger is complete with original 23cm portepee in excellent condition showing light wear/age to cord and acorn, but no damage or fraying. Standard hangers show light surface wear to facings and velvet backings, but no rips or tears to the fabric or damage to the fittings. Nice Eickhorn example complete with all accouterments.
