2nd Model Luftwaffe Dagger. Rich. Abr. Herder, ace of diamonds in double oval TM. This fine Herder example features the dark gray flatter style pommel and crossguard with vaulted eagle as illustrated on page 209 of Exploring the Dress Daggers of the German Luftwaffe by Thomas T. Wittmann. Aluminum hilt fittings wit dark factory finish show light wear to the highlights with much factory darkening remaining in the recesses of the oak leaf embellished pommel without gilted swastikas as well as the well detailed feathering of the Luftwaffe eagle on the crossguard. Lemon yellow grip is perfect with no cracks or chips and is complete with tight aluminum spongy wire wrap. Polished blade grades excellent+/excellent++ showing light surface wear/runner marks with some faint gray shadowing but no pitting or nicks to cutting edges. Blade is complete with tan leather blade buffer pad. Dent-free steel scabbard retains virtually 100% of the factory gray finish and is complete with two flush side-mounted throat retaining screws. Dagger is complete with 23cm portepee in excellent+ condition showing only light wear with no fraying or damage. Nice Herder example. Exc+/Exc++ (26481) $650. SOLD
