Hunting Hirschfanger w/Unique Blade Etch. Ed. Wusthof,
Solingen (crossed arrows inside oval) TM. Anodized
steel fittings show surface wear to fluted pommel,
recurved crossguard and fluted clamshell. Dark brown,
staghorn grip is perfect with no cracks or chips.
Polished, double-etched blade measuring 13 ¼"
in length grades excellent/excellent+ with light
surface wear/runner marks and some gray shadowing/speckling
and is complete with red felt blade buffer pad.
Obverse blade etch features a forest/jungle scene
of Pigmies hunting a wild animal, while the reverse
blade etch features a forest scene of two tigers
(one wounded by an arrow). This is the only Hirschfanger
with this unique blade etch that JRB&M has seen.
Black leather scabbard shows light surface wear
with no rips or tears and no damage to the reverse
stitching. Anodized steel fittings show light wear/age
with one shallow depression to lower obverse fitting
with both retaining staples present. Scabbard is
designed to accommodate a skinning knife; however,
the knife has been lost to time. Rare Hirschfanger
w/unique blade etch.
