Personalized Imperial Extrawaffen KS/98 Bayonet w/Frog & Officer's Portepee.No maker. Although unmarked this bayonet was most certainly produced by the E. Pack & Söhne firm as the grip plates are complete with the Pack style offset retaining screws. Nickel-plated hilt fittings show minor surface crazing, but no lifting and pommel slot is complete with original red felt plug. Black bakelite grip plates are perfect with no cracks or chips with lifting to the plating on the retaining screws. Plated blade measuring 24.2cm in length grades EX+ showing light surface wear/runner marks and some minor gray speckling/shadowing, but no nicks to cutting edge and is complete with light brown leather buffer pad. Obverse blade features the engraved personalization, "Weltkrieg 1914/15" in block letters flanking and engraved motif of the German, Austro-Hungarian and Turkish flags within a laurel leaf wreath. The obverse ricasso is stamped, "Solingen" with the reverse ricasso stamped with the retailer's name, "Gustav Klemme Herford", located approximately 135km NE of Dortmund. Dent-free steel scabbard retains approximately 95% of the period repainted black enamel showing light surface wear with of missing paint on the shell and lower ball. Black leather, triple-stitched, double-rivet frog grades Ex+ showing wear/age, but no rips or tears and is complete with an EX+ officer' sword knot.
