 M-1901 Navy Dagger w/Ivory Grip & Hammered Scabbard. Carl Eickhorn partially stamped back-to-back squirrels TM. An illustration of this pattern dagger and scabbard with etched blade appears on page 68 of the 1908 Musterbüch der Waffenfabrik Carl Eickhorn Solingen" as Pattern Nr. 465. Gilted brass hilt fittings show surface wear with faint traces of gilting and factory darkening remaining in recesses of open crown pommel with Eickhorn pattern squared cross on top of crown and large capstan style crossguard and heavy quillon block with raised style anchor motif. Ivory grip shows age striations with nice age toning with several hairline cracks and one chip to the upper reverse adjacent to underside of pommel where wire wrap is inserted. Grip is complete with tight twisted brass wire wrap. Plain plated double-fullered blade grades excellent/excellent+, showing light surface wear/runner marks, a few specks of graying and one depression to the lower cutting edge. Blade is complete with red felt blade buffer pad. Gilted brass scabbard well-defined hammered pattern, to include the scabbard bands and rings which feature a rope pattern motif. Scabbard shows light surface wear with traces of gilting remaining in recesses and several depressions to lower obverse. Nice Eickhorn example. Exc/Exc+ (21518) $1,495.
